Bihar BJP MLA calls Muslim legislator 'Pakistani'

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader surprised the members of the Bihar Assembly with his remark about a fellow RJD MLA, whom he called 'Pakistani'.

Following the remark, the opposition MLAs created a ruckus in the Assembly. They entered the well of the house and raised slogans against the BJP leader Ramadhar Singh.

The incident occurred when Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLAs were attacking senior BJP leader LK Advani during the discussion over budget. RJD MLA Shakil Ahmad was also among those critical of Advani.

However, Ramadhar Singh stunned everybody with the sudden remark. He told Ahmad that he shouldn't speak over the matter as he is a 'Pakistani'. Furious over the remark, RJD legislators rushed towards the speaker's chair and demanded apology.

The leaders of other opposition parties also condemned the communal comment. Speaker UN Chaudhary has called an all party meeting over the issue. In the past also Singh's comments have received criticism.
