IAS officer jumps off building, ends life

A senior officer of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) committed suicide by jumping off the top floor of a building in Dwarka in mysterious circumstances in New Delhi on Thursday.

The officer, Santosh Kumar Prasad, 57, who was posted as Additional Director in the Commerce Department, was apparently suffering from depression. He reached the roof of the seventh floor of the building and jumped off.

He was admitted to hospital but the doctors said he was brought dead. He left no suicide note. Prasad lived with his two sons and a daughter in the Vimal apartment. Prasad was suffering from diabetes.

The body has been sent for post-mortem. The police said that they were investigating what caused Prasad to end his life. His family members are also being interrogated in this regard.
