Malegaon blast accused to contest election

Samir Kulkarni, an accused in the Malegaon bomb blasts, who is currently in police custody has announced his plans to contest the election from Bhopal.

Kulkarni is the leader of the radical Hindutva outfit Abhinava Bharat that is charged of involvement in several terrorist strikes in Maharashtra and attempts to set off bomb blasts in other states also.

The announcement came at the Jabalpur High Court where Kulkarni was brought in connection with the case involving attack on a church. He is the main accused behind the conspiracy.

As he arrived in the court, Kulkarni told media persons that he would fight election from the Bhopal constituency to defeat Congress. He also said that he would respectfully take BJP leader Kailash Joshi towards retirement and instead fight the polls. He was arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) along with Sadhwi Pragya Singh Thakur and other accused.
