Modi hits at Nehru-Gandhi family for dynasty politics

>> Sunday, February 8, 2009

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attacked the Nehru-Gandhi family for the ills in the country. He said that the family has ruled the nation for 37 years.

Modi said that adding the five years of current UPA regime, the members of the family have ruled India for 42 years, as Manmohan Singh is an 'invisible' Prime Minister and the real power is still in the hands of the family.

Speaking at the national executive meet of the BJP at Nagpur, Modi said that this continuing dynasty rule is against the interests of the country. The Gujarat Chief Minister didn't name anybody but the reference was clear.

Rahul Gandhi has been projected as future Prime Minister. Modi also hit at UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and said that it was LK Advani's team that was younger, because the average age of the BJP chief ministers was much less than their Congress counterparts.

Modi also said that the family has ruined everything and drew parallel with the American system where Barack Obama was elected the president because the electorate was fed up with the polices of George Bush, and earlier his father, who had also been the president of United States of America.
