Shiv Sena supremo snubs Advani

The Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Tuesday snubbed BJP leader LK Advani when the latter expressed his intention to meet the Sena supremo at his Mumbai residence.

The Shiv Sena conveyed that it was not possible for Bal Thackeray to meet Advani at such a short-notice, as no prior appointment had been sought by the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate.

Thackeray's refusal to meet Advani took many in the BJP by surprise. Advani had reached Mumbai to attend a party function and after the event, he decided to call on Thackeray.

But the'no' from Matoshri startled Advani's partymen though they didn't react over it. The Shiv Sena is the oldest ally of BJP but the parties have had a strained relationship lately.

It is believed that after the elections, Sena may support NCP strongman Pawar for the post of Prime Minister, in the case of a hung parliament. Earlier also Sena had supported Pratibha Patil, who hails from Maharashtra, for the post of President despite BJP's opposition.
