'TDP will not support Advani as Prime Minister'

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu has said that his party will not support the candidature of senior BJP leader LK Advani as Prime Minister of India.

Naidu said that there was no question of his party giving support to the BJP. He event went to the extent of declaring that the party will have no relations with the BJP in future.

Naidu was a partner in the BJP-led NDA government of which Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. However, on Sunday Naidu said that the support to BJP cost him his minority vote.

The BJP government in Gujarat is held responsible for large-scale communal violence and rioting. The then NDA government at the Centre is also blamed for not reining in the state administration.

Andhra Pradesh has a strong Muslim population. The capital Hyderabad that was ruled by Nizams has 40% Muslim population. Andhra Pradesh also has a strong Christian population.

Congress is in power in Andhra Pradesh and the TDP feels that its support to BJP was responsible for its loss despite Naidu government's initiatives that brought Hyderabad on the map of Information Technology (IT) on the globe.
