The Arya Samaj is all set to launch its political outfit and would field candidates in North India, especially, Haryana for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
It will field candidates under the banner of Rashtriya Arya Rajya Sabha (RARS), its political wing. The Arya Samaj that was founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati is a revivalist movement in Hinduism.
But this is not the first time when the Hindu organisation has entered politics. In 1972 and 1977, its candidates had contested the elections. In fact, a contestant Swami Agnivesh had even won the election and had entered the Assembly to later become a state minister.
The leaders of the sect claim that their aim to enter the electoral field is to cleanse the politics of corruption and work for the betterment of the society along with uplift of the poor. The Election Commission has been approached for registration, according to reports.
