Ragging causes MBBS student's death

In a shocking incident, a junior student at a medical college in Himachal Pradesh, died as a result of excessive and brutal ragging by his seniors.

Aman Kachroo, 19, who was student of Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh (HP), succumbed to the injuries on Sunday.

It is learnt that Kachroo was mercilessly beaten by the third year students. He had earlier told his parents that about the ragging but they didn't think that it could take his life.

Kachru had told them that drunk seniors would brutally beam them. The boy had received injuries in the face, chest, ears and other parts of the body. After his death, the college authorities tried to hush up the matter by trying to pass it off as a case of suicide.

The college administration didn't even call the police even much after the death. Later when the news of a medical student getting killed due to ragging became public, the college principle offered his resignation. The police have conducted the post-mortem report and said that they had arrested two of the offenders.
