Sanjay Dutt booked for offer to 'kiss & hug' Mayawati

The Uttar Pradesh police on Saturday registered a case against actor-turn-politician Sanjay Dutt for offering to kiss and hug BSP supremo Mayawati at an election rally.

Dutt, who is general secretary of the Samajwadi Party, had offered to kiss and give 'pappi' (kiss) and a 'jadu ki jhappi' (hug) to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief during the election campaign.

He was addressing a public function in Pratapgarh. The police have registered a case of obscene remarks against Dutt. Just a couple of days back he was booked for a controversial speech.

In a political rally ahead of election, Dutt had reportedly said that he was tortured in police custody because his mother was Muslim. Sanjay Dutt is the son of legendary actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis. Sunil Dutt was also an MP for Congress in later years.

In one of his movies, Dutt who played the role Munna Bhai offered the 'jadu ki jhappi', a hug, to cure patients and also take on his adversaries who underwent change of heart with the emotional embrace. But this gesture has proved costly to the actor now who often gets into controversies.
