Vaiko booked for pro-LTTE statement

MDMK supremo Vaikho who had warned of bloodbath in case of any harm to LTTE chief V Prabhakaran, has been charged under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

Vaiko had warned the government of serious consequences in case the Sri Lankan army offensive against Tamil Tigers leads to 'something' happening to the LTTE's top leader Prabhakaran.

The firebrand MDMK leader had went on to said that there was nothing wrong for Tamil youths to take up arms and fight in LTTE's support. He had even suggested that youths from Tamil Nadu may sneak into Sri Lanka.

His speech in Chennai that warned of blood bath in Tamil Nadu forced the police to register a case against him for inciting people to indulge in violence. Vaiko now says that his intentions were good and he wanted to warn the government.

LTTE, one of the most deadliest terrorist organisations in the world, is fighting for its survival in Sri Lanka. Though LTTE had been behind the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, there is support for the banned group in parts of Tamil Nadu.
