Finally, self-styled godman Asaram arrested in Indore, Jodhpur police takes him away for interrogation in minor girl's rape case

Self-styled godman Asaram 'Bapu' who is facing charge of raping a girl in his Ashram, was finally arrested after high-voltage drama in Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

A team of Jodhpur police that had come from Rajasthan, arrested Asaram. The minor girl who hails from UP studied in Chhindwara (MP).

She had gone to Jodhpur Ashram when the self-styled swami sexually assaulted her. Asaram tried his best to evade the arrest. His supporters even clashed with journalists in  Bhopal, Indore and Jodhpur.

But with growing anger across the country, Asaram was finally caught from his Ashram. Asumal Sirumalani, 72, who became known as Asaram Bapu has large following in Hindi-speaking states. Born in Sindh in Pakistan, he also has clout among the Sindhi community.

But the godman has been controversial because of his actions. He has misbehaved with the devotees and is known to have a loose tongue. He is also accused of tantrik practices in his Ashrams.

There are allegations of deaths of children in mysterious circumstances in his Gujarat Ashram. The godman owns large property in different cities in India. The Rajasthan police team will now interrogate him about the rape case. More complaints are also coming up against him now.
